Would you want your 6 year old
working 12 hour days in a quarry?
Of course not! However, in Bihar, one of India's poorest states, children as young as six are forced to work on farms, in brickworks and quarries for as little as 65 cents and a cup of rice a day.
Children should be allowed a childhood, not a life of hard labour. You can help stop this abuse!
Help Free the Children Trust is an organisation based in Nelson, New Zealand, which was born out of our firsthand experience of child labour and our commitment to find a means of financial and practical aid to free these children.
How can we meet our objectives? At Help Free the Children we believe that basic education is the key to reducing poverty and freeing young people and their families from hard labour. Education, particularly for girls, allows a sense of empowerment and confidence to make decisions that can greatly affect people's lives - but to effect a change we need your help!
